Trusts
and Estates
The firm also has a broad trusts and estates practice, which includes
estate, gift and generation - skipping transfer taxation planning, estate
and trust administration, fiduciary income tax and post-mortem tax planning.
The firm has developed special expertise in dealing with the problems
of clients with substantial assets, including sophisticated planning involving
tax efficient transfers of growth assets using vehicles such as lifetime
trusts, family corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships,
and charitable lead and remainder trusts.
Our practice in this area represents many professionals and owners of
closely held businesses in their personal affairs. In the matrimonial
and family law area, our attorneys have experience in premarital planning
and agreements, post martial agreements, separation agreements, custodial-related
matters and litigation to terminate a marriage.
We have a very strong expertise in the administration of decedents estates
either small or value in excess of 25 million. Our practice in this area
includes the probate of wills, will contests, spousal right of election
issues, estate and fiduciary tax returns, including gift tax returns,
as well as preparation and audit of estate tax returns by the Internal
Revenue Service.
The firms attorneys regularly review law changes in this area, and
consistently advise clients of the same. We are also particularly sensitive
to changes to personal circumstances and give appropriate advice in a
effort to minimize gift, estate and generation transfer taxes.
